Award Win for Austrian Airlines and Plane Talking Products’ Inclusive Premium Economy Amenity Kits
Posted on 14 April, 2025
Plane Talking Products and Austrian Airlines are proud to announce that their Premium Economy amenity kits have won the 2025 Onboard Hospitality Award, recognising excellence in innovation, design, and inclusivity within the aviation industry.
This prestigious accolade celebrates the careful thought and creative approach behind the kits, which were designed to reflect Austrian Airlines’ core values of accessibility, diversity, equality, and inclusion, while maintaining a strong commitment to sustainability.
A key feature of the kits is the world-first use of Braille, with each pouch featuring Austrian’s signature “Servus” greeting embossed in raised tactile dots. The aim was to create a genuinely inclusive product that ensures every guest feels welcomed and valued.
“We’re really proud to have won the 2025 Onboard Hospitality Award—it's a huge achievement and a moment of celebration for everyone involved in the project,” says Bryony Koziol, Design Manager at Plane Talking Products.
“This award acknowledges not just the design, but the values behind it—creating products that are inclusive, thoughtful and accessible. As more airlines look to create meaningful onboard experiences for every guest, we’re honoured to be recognised for a kit that puts people first.”
In addition to inclusivity, the kits are designed with sustainability in mind. Each one includes a comforting eye mask, knitted socks, a dental kit and earplugs—essentials for a restful flight—all housed in pouches made from recycled plastic bottles, with renewable kraft paper packaging that can be recycled after use.
The kits are currently flying in Austrian Airlines’ Premium Economy Class, available in three collectible colours.
